KEVIN & JUDY
We like to keep busy and volunteering at Mandalay has certainly helped us with that. It is so lovely being able to help and support those in need and see the difference that we can make. It’s also great meeting and working alongside the other volunteers.
Since retiring Judy has been able to nurture her love of sewing. Kevin is a dab hand here at Mandalay and we are very fortunate to have them both.
I’m Liam and I have been a volunteer for Mandalay for 6 months. I am proud to be part of a team that is making a difference for the people of Great Yarmouth. The food distribution is so important and helps to support vulnerable families. Trevor has created a great team and it’s positive vibe makes us all feel valued – I look forward to coming in on Thursday mornings!
I have been volunteering since the start of Covid-19 – the year has flown by! I enjoy being part of the team and supporting to help others! My passion is travel and I love holidays! I manage the Hays Travel Great Yarmouth branch to help others book their dream holiday and getaways.
I am a self-employed Events Manager of 12 years. During the pandemic my work came to a halt and I couldn’t just sit around knowing that people were struggling and that I could help by giving my time. Mandalay Wellbeing CIC has changed my life and I’m so glad to be involved in such a wonderful cause for my community.
KLARE & BETH
We are self-employed hairdressers of 17yrs and Beth is also a beauty therapist at a Salon in Spixworth called ‘The Attic Hair Studio’. Back in November 2020, with the third lockdown, we decided we wanted to give something back. Volunteering for Mandalay Wellbeing CIC has definitely been one of the most rewarding things we have ever done.
I love nothing more than to see people smiling. I like to share kindness and love at every opportunity. Life is precious and every single person is a unique miracle.
In October 2020 I took redundancy after working for the same company for 30yrs and wanted to have a complete change. I had 4 months relaxing and then wanted to get out and meet new people and help people in need. Luckily I found Mandalay Wellbeing and look forward to my mornings there helping people and making new friends. Trevor and the team are making a real difference in the community and I love being part of this family.
Over the past five years I have become involved with work that Trevor was doing for East Norfolk Medical Practice and the local community due to my interest in improving the lives of our local population and social prescribing. From the Christmas Stocking campaign to help for the local population during Covid in terms of food and clothing distribution, Trevor is a unique individual who will go the extra mile for any cause that he feels is worthwhile. He has made a difference to many lives locally and to mine, and I love the variety of challenges volunteering brings from washing donations of clothing to feeding a neighbours pigs with veg left over from the food bank. I work as a GP in Great Yarmouth, I like cheap wine and travel ( and staycations now!) and I very much dislike any seagull who steals my chips!
Dr Sheldon provides medical guidance for all our projects.
Hi, I’m Paulo and I am a small part of this amazing team that is Mandalay Wellbeing. Honestly, I couldn’t thank you all enough for all the support and the family feel that I get from all of the volunteers. Being part of this project made me grow as a person. It is an amazing feeling when you know that you are helping families in need and seeing people progress with their lives thanks to the Mandalay Project. Thank you for helping me!’
My name is Jackie and I work for a funeral directors. I have done this job for 11 years and love it so much. Keeping in with the caring side of my job is why I wanted to volunteer to help at Mandalay. I really enjoy working alongside some amazing people. My favourite colour is yellow and when I’m not working, spending time with my family is very important to me.
I am a GP partner at ENMP, I qualified as a vet before swapping to people. I help because I am really lucky to have had a great start in life and many options. I want to give much more time to a really fabulous enterprise, but may have to wait till I retire.
